WordPress is a popular and free platform for creating blogs and managing web sites as a CMS. You can start a free blog today with an address like http://mysite.wordpress.com/ or you can install WordPress on your own site with an address like http://blog.mysite.com/ or http://www.mysite.com/blog/
WordPress Templates
One reason that WordPress has really taken off is that it lets you change the colors, fonts, layout and looks thru Templates. There are literally thousands of Templates for you to choose from. These Templates are often provided free of charge or for a donation.
WordPress Widgets
Widgets are features that you can add to your WordPress site. There are thousands to choose from. Examples include: Calendars, RSS Feeds, Photo Galleries, etc.
WordPress Customization
With free software and thousands of Templates and Widgets to choose from why would I need any customization?
Here are some reasons to choose WordPress customization or services:
- Your blog theme needs to match the colors, fonts and layout of your main site so that visitors know that this is the same company or brand.
- Your favorite Template is really close to what you want, but it's not quite perfect in terms of color, shape, position or features.
- A widget is working OK but it needs a little bit of tweaking to make it work or look really stunning.
- You want WordPress to be installed on your site and need help.
- WordPress looks way too complex for me to understand. I need some tutoring to learn this.
